Summary
We’re currently working with a client in Rockland who is seeking an experienced Forklift / Heavy Equipment Mechanic for a full-time, long-term opportunity. This role offers steady hours, competitive pay, and a mix of garage-based and on-site work.
Location: Rockland (with service calls from Rockland to Kanata) – must have a vehicle to get to work
Pay Rate: $28–$45 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule:
• Monday to Thursday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
About the Role:
As one of the mechanics, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and other heavy equipment. The position is based out of the Rockland, with regular service calls to job sites. A service truck is provided for travel to other locations. You will report directly to the Manager of the Garage.
Job responsibilites
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on forklifts (including Nessel and SkyTrak) and other heavy equipment
• Performing preventative maintenance to maximize uptime and reliability
• Responding to service calls at job sites in a timely and safe manner
• Conducting inspections, diagnostics, and recommending repair solutions
• Completing welding work as required
• Maintaining accurate records of repairs, parts, and services
• Supporting garage-based repairs when not in the field
• Following all safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized work environment
Job requirements
• Minimum 3+ years of experience as a mechanic (forklift or heavy equipment experience preferred)
• Valid driver’s license – mandatory
• Welding skills – required
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical knowledge
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Forklift license – preferred but not mandatory, must be willing to train
• PEWP license – preferred but not mandatory, must be willing to train
• Physically capable of handling a demanding workload
