Summary

The Brazer is responsible for joining metal components using a brazing process, ensuring high-quality welds and adherence to specifications. This role involves preparing workpieces, selecting appropriate filler materials, and operating brazing equipment safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of metallurgy, attention to detail, and the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings. Safety awareness and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace are essential for success in this position.

 


Job responsibilites

  • Clean and prepare metal surfaces to ensure optimal bonding before brazing, including removing rust, grease, and oxidation
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings to understand assembly requirements and specifications
  • Choose the appropriate filler materials and fluxes based on the types of metals being joined and the specific application
  • Safely operate a hand torch to heat metals to the correct brazing temperature, ensuring even heat distribution for effective bonding
  • Position and hold metal parts together securely during the brazing process, maintaining alignment according to specifications
  • Inspect completed joints for strength, appearance, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as necessary
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize risks associated with heat and metal work
  • Perform routine maintenance on brazing equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working condition
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered during the brazing process
  • Work closely with other team members to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient workflow in the production environment

Job requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in brazing or a related metalworking field
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy and metal properties
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Proficiency in operating hand torches and brazing equipment
  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures in a manufacturing environment
  • Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independentl
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
