Why?
Locking out is essential when working in an area where an unexpected release of energy can injure/kill a worker. Lockout in certain situations is a large undertaking involving detailed planning, lots of equipment, and multiple employers’ involvement. Fortunately, most lockouts can be dealt with by following the procedures which are taught in the course.
Although each work area has its own specific requirements of what must be locked out, this course helps individuals understand important elements of a sound lockout safety program and allows them to audit their lockout program for deficiencies.

1. Understand the legislative requirements.
2. Locate energy sources.
3. Explain the difference between lockout and tag out.
4. Explain the lockout and tag out procedures.
5. Perform basic inspections.
