Course Details & Objectives

Who needs this training?
This workshop educates managers and supervisors on their legal responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario

 

Why?
Managers must ensure that the requirements of the act or code are being met; supervisors accept the responsibility for workers in ensuring they understand and comply; workers must follow the rules and comply with the requirements of the act or code.  Further to this, management must be duly diligent; i.e. they must ensure that they do everything reasonable to maintain the health and safety of the workers or employees.

 

Course outline: 

1. To provide managers and supervisors with an understanding of what the law requires of them in their specific roles.

2. To assist attendees in understanding what the law demands as a minimum standard and what Due Diligence should mean to them.

3. To provide attendees with scenarios in which companies, managers, and supervisors have been found negligent and have therefore been fined.

4. To assist each attendee in understanding what they should do in their company to ensure the health and safety of the worker.

 

Duration: Depends on the volume of the class. Usually between 2 to 8 hours.
